Certificate Course of 20 hours (Saturday & Sunday 6-8pm) for those who intend to access the texts of Patañjali’s Yogasūtra and its commentaries
Aim and Object:
Word to word translation and explanation of select texts from the Sāṁkhyakārikā of Īśvarakr̥ṣṇa, Śrīmadbhagavadgītā, Patañjali’s Yogasūtra.
Study Guide and Methodology:
- Sanskrit Alphabet and Pronunciation.
- Acquaintance with the Key concepts of Sāṁkhya and Yoga Philosophy.
- Acquaintance with a few Sanskrit words for understanding Sanskrit philosophical texts.
- Declensions and Conjugations.
- Introduction to Sandhi.
- Basics of Samāsa (Compound).
- Introduction to Sanskrit suffix with special reference to Kr̥t
- Derivation/Etymology of the Technical Terms of Sāṁkhya and Yoga Philosophy.
- Determining the gender of the Sanskrit words in the context of Pātañjala-Yoga.
- Fundamental knowledge of Kāraka-Vibhakti.
